LAKE SOLANO MEMORIAL DAY CAMPING AND SOMERSET FARMS TREE PLANTING
this years memorial day camping trip was to lake solano near winters and antons farm. i went up on the early side to plant some trees on the farm with anton, some more folks arrived on friday and saturday. the usual meatfest ensued – was particularly good since we were close to the carniceria in winters that sells those marinated game hens everyone loves.
the water was ‘effing freezing…

the GS is pretty much ready for alaska..

folks looked good and relaxed..

OMEGA RECOIL SCIENCE CHANNEL SHOOT
the show “this week in science” on the science channel are doing a small piece on wireless energy. the group put together a demonstration including a spiffy test bench, john and sparky gave interviews and it went late as usual. initial worries about the weather faded as the sun came out and the day turned all lovely.
ALYSIAS BIRTHDAY – AN INDOOR CAMPING CELEBRATION
another night camping at chabot was in the works for alysias birthday, bill was in town and everyone was excited to pitch tents but sadly the weather wasn’t co-operating.. we changed venue to 20th street and did it up pot-luck style. fond memories of ritzys squash curry soup and spicy ribeye. was really nice to have folks over and some delicious food. CW grilled and i took crappy pictures.

DREAM MACHINES
drove down the 1 to the dream machines hot rod/air show on sunday. hundreds of muscle cars, planes, hot rods, bikes etc etc. a monster truck called “playin’ for keeps” made up for the absence of the truck pull from other years - sort of. still it was super fun strolling around drooling on all the bright paint and chrome. some photos below and all of them here.

there was only ONE ‘67 riviera at the show [no ‘68s or ‘69s], nice black one. made me miss mine a little bit.

these guys were the highlight of the show [perhaps only because if their size].. built by a super nice guy called rodney rucker they’re based on PT boat and tank engines.. the red guy is an 1800 cu inch v12 twin turbo from a tank and i think the silver one is a diesel out of a PT boat. they were beautiful, loud and rodney drove the red one to and from the show. awesome.
